Harvest Moon, one of my all time favourite games. Now I know what your thinking, that game came out like, 3 years ago. I know that, but I dont think it got enough credit I also just felt like talking about it.
Now, I wont lie the story is kind of lame, and a game in which you only farm doesn’t sound that great either, but trust me this game is fun.
One of my favorite things about this games is the freedom it gives you. You can do what you want when you want. As long as that doesn’t include planting crops in the middle of winter. Other than that the game follows your schedule. If you want to forget to feed the cows, you can forget to feed the cows. If you want to work all day, you can work all day, well at least untill you faint. I know, kinda dumb. Other than being quiet annoying due to some idiot who decides to take some of your money, being able to faint does bring some challenge and skill into the game, but come on, its bad enough that you miss a hole days work but taking your money away, that’s just sick.
Another thing I like which probably wont appeal to a lot of other people is that there is a lot of exploration and trial and error in order to beat it. If you want to marry someone you will have to keep giving her gifts untill you find the one that she likes the best. Also talking to people at the right time and date can unlock special items. I’m pretty sure this why this game wasn’t very well liked but, it depends what your into.
Overall I really like this game for those two reasons, although you may hate this game for those two reasons, but again it depends what your into.
